As Adriatica grows into a village where people can live and work in a unique setting, questions from around the world are beginning to come in. With the understanding that one person may ask a question that others are thinking, Blackard Group, Inc. has added this web page and will attempt to answer all questions as best we can.
Feel free to send your questions to info@blackard.net and we will try to get them answered as quickly as possible. Visit our newest page listing links to the Friends and Partners of Adriatica. Please visit their web pages and learn about them.
May 1, 2006 - Karin asks... I was wondering about information on the future hotel to be built? I realize that it is far in the future of things to be done but not much has been said on the web site. Do you have any information on that yet? - The name of the "boutique" style hotel is the B Hotel. It will be nestled along the water's edge with approximately 70 rooms, a Presidential Suite and a Honeymoon Suite. The actual design has not been started as we are working with the fire department to make sure all of their requirements are met or exceeded. As we get closer to the time of ground breaking, there will be more information on the Web site.
April 15, 2006 - Michael L. asks - Will Adriatica allow non-motor watercraft, ie Kayaks, in the lake? Stonebridge Lake is under the control of the Stonebridge Home Owners Association. Motorized watercraft are not allowed on the lake. Non-Motorized watercraft are. Paddle boats can be rented at the Stonebridge Beach Club on the other side of the dam. As and FYI to all the people that like to fish... Stonebridge Lake is a "Catch and Release" Lake.
March 23, 2006 - Mike W. asks... Why have barricades been put at the entrances to Adriatica? We had to control access to Adriatica as we noticed a significant increase in traffic trying to avoid the traffic signal at the corner of Stonebridge Drive and Virginia Parkway. The traffic was becoming a safety hazard for the heavy equipment that moves around the construction site daily. We don't want anyone getting hurt.
March 7, 2006 - DAN H. of McKinney, TX asks...
What is the meaning of the word "BOL" from the BOL building? - BOL is the first and oldest town along the coast of the island of Brac (pronounced Brach). BOL is famous for it's beaches, full of white sandy pebbles resembling the eyeballs of fish.
February 2, 2006 - Peggy of McKinney, TX wants to know...
Is there parking available while using your hike and bike trails? - Currently there is no public parking on the property as everything is still under construction. As the village grows, there will be parking along the streets, in the parking lots and assuming we can work out the details, in a public parking garage.
January 18, 2006 - Dan H. of McKinney, TX wants to know...
-
Availability dates for residential - The Villa District is available now. Future residential will come in phase two.
-
Names of businesses - We will announce the names of any businesses as soon as our confidentiality agreements allow. A couple more will be announced soon.
-
Elevations - As everyone knows, the City of McKinney must approve each building before construction can begin. Future building elevations will be posted on this web site as they become available. A separate web page will probably be utilized so keep your eyes open for upcoming changes.
-
Street map with street names - We are working to have the name of one street changed. Once complete, we will post a map. The two main streets are Adriatica (the main entrance) and Mediterranean Way (entering off of Stonebridge Drive and running along the Villa District.
-
Date The Promise will be completed - The carving is estimated to be compled by the end of 2008 these dates are only targets and may change.
-
Timing of completion of streets, start of villas/town homes, start of tower, start of etc. - We anticipate the streets to be completed very soon. There is some work left to do in the Villa District and around the fountain. The infrastructure is currently under construction leading down to the Medical Park building (this is the work on the east end of the property along Virginia Parkway). Once completed, the streets will be constructed.
-
Open for business dates for K-W & Starbucks - The target completion date for the "Kastel" (Keller-Williams) is June 30, 2006.
-
Date harbor will be flooded - There is no specific date for this event. The Chapel, Restaurants and the Dubrovnik must be constructed prior to flooding. We are hopeful for the Fall of 2006.
-
Words about the 'tiny Croatian buildings' hiding the trash bins - Pretty cool little buildings aren't they? This is Jeff Blackard's idea as he wanted to try and hide as much of the dumpster as possible. The first two are completed. Look for the pictures on the "News From The Village" page. More will be built as needed. These must surely be the best looking dumpster enclosures around.
-
Where the grapes will be planted - There are several 'common' areas where the grapes will be planted. One prominent area is in front of the "Kastel". Also, a VERY "cool" and unique addition to the winery is planned. This is such a unique addition, we keep the plans "underground".
-
Words about the fountain in front of K-W - I will have to get back with you on this one. We can't give ALL our secrets away at one time can we? I have heard 'rumors' of a May time frame, but you didn't hear it from me!
-
Landscape plan - The landscape for the buildings are designed as uniquely as the individual buildings. Just as a European village allows it's residents create unique visualizations, so too will each design be different yet tastefully blended into the overall ambience of the village.
-
Plans for pedestrian traffic along the lake (seating, greenery, etc.) - The hike & bike trail along the lake should be completely poured by the end of January, 2006. The meandering path will have trees and several benches along the stone wall where, if desired, you can sit and read or simply enjoy the serenity of the lake. Watch for additional interesting 'features' to appear along the lake. This is one of those closely held secrets that you will have to wait for.
-
Plans for hike/bike trail (across dam, around harbor, tunnels, etc.) - The hike and bike trail is scheduled to connect over the dam towards the beach club.
-
More on the Dubrovnik - The Dubrovnik is an 'Old World' adriatic sailing vessel and history tells us the Dubrovnik was one of the first ships to sail the Adriatic as a merchant ship. The design has been completed and approved with construction to begin within the next 120 days. We have asked Vesna Solano to research and document the history of the Dubrovnik. Once her essay is complete, we will post it to this web site along with other research projects she is working on.
-
As quickly as possible, words on restaurants (kinds, number, when, etc.) - We have in excess of 20 World Class Restaurants that want to open in Adriatica. Blackard Group, Inc. is working to ensure that the final number of restaurants, (what ever that number is) will not be too many or too few so all can be successful with diverse menus. As with all tenants, they will be announced as soon as possible.
- What's the 'big hill' at the SW corner - This is part of the Vineyard. Did you know Adriatica will have it's own wine bottled on the premises?
On 44 acres in the heart of the Stonebridge Ranch community in McKinney, Texas, Adriatica will bring the old world concept to retail and office tenants, as well as residents. The stone exterior, tile roof villas are integrated with unique office spaces and a wide selection of retail and restaurant options, all in a pedestrian friendly environment that puts the emphasis on living.
